Water is important as it helps to keep you alive. Without water you can only live for a few days. Water moves nutrients around the body, removes waste from the body, helps you to think clearly and even keeps your body cool.

  • You need 4 to 6 glasses of water a day - so get drinking! Don’t wait until you are thirsty.
  • Here are some ways to help you drink more water:
    • If you carry a water bottle around you will be likely to drink it;
    • Have a glass of water when you get out of bed;
    • Drink a glass of water every 2 hours during the day;
    • Add a little lemon barley or a piece of fresh mint to your water to give it some flavour.
  • Remember that water is the best drink. Soft drinks are very high in sugar – every can of soft drink has 9-10 teaspoons of sugar in it! Not very good for your teeth! If you feel like some fruit juice, have a small glass only that is half water or better yet, eat a piece of fruit such as an apple or an orange.
